About Us

Our History

At our Wholesale Farm we offer premium quality field grown nursery stock. Our materials are grown in climate and soil very similar to that in which they will be planted. Our trees are carefully machine dug to meet ANLA standards. To ensure freshness, the trees are dug to order, so we require advance notice.

Quality Principals

We maintain a central leader for structure, shape and strength.
We grow ordinary and unusual varieties and provide easy mix and match ordering.
We grow in clay loom – from the field to the job our balls are strong.
We prune 2 to 3 times per year to create a fuller bodied tree at a younger age.
We are patient – we dig our trees only when they reach a 1.75-2″ caliper.

What Makes Us Different

Like George Washington we know the importance of adding compost to our growing soil. George Washington was the nation’s first recognized composter. Washington was aware of the degrading effects of farming on the soil, and built a “dung repository” to make compost from animal manure so he could replenish the soils organic matter.

The benefits of compost over synthetic fertilizer are numerous and significant:

  • Compost provides a means to recycle organic materials in a sustainable and earth friendly manner.
  • Compost reintroduces organic matter with nutrients, minerals, and beneficial microorganisms into the soil.
  • Compost has the ability to absorb 16-25 times its own weight in water, which enables us to use less water when growing.

We incorporate compost into the soil to a depth of 20″ by using an Imants spading machine, before planting. In doing so this enables the use of no synthetic fertilizer over the growing cycle of the trees and plants we grow.
